Friends are so much fun!

My sweet friend came over to see the chicks the other day and she snapped this pic with her phone :). I think someone has found a new friend!

She has a name now...

She has a name now...Snugglefluff!
With our bannies, we picked unisex names pretty quickly based on how they looked, but with our red sexlink girls, we needed to wait for personalities to start emerging before naming them (I couldn't tell them apart at first lol). Well this sweet baby girl's personality only took about a week to come to the surface! She YEARNS to be held and snuggled! All you have to do is say "chickchickchickchick" and she comes RUNNING and then waits for us to put our hand down for her to climb up <3 melt my heart!
Yesterday Mamaw Nia (my mom) had a seizure-like episode and ended up back in the hospital, so I spent Memorial Day up there with her. I feel so blessed to be close enough to be there, but it was stressful and I worry a lot when stuff like this happens with her (she is young for a "mamaw" of 5, esp since Yarrow, her oldest grandson, is 17!). Anyway, I got home last night, went outside to sit and Yarrow brought Snugglefluff out to me and all the stress of the day melted as she nestled in my hand and snuggled up next to my chin :). Who woulda ever thunk that these little fluff balls would have such an effect of this self proclaimed "not-a-bird-person" gal?

Sweet Clover...

Sweet Clover doing her reading homework and eating an apple...please excuse my messy porch, was trying to clean up the yard so Hayseed & Wild Onion could mow and it all ended up on the porch ;).
As sweet and bright as Clover is, trying to get that girl to read is like pulling teeth! She pouts, cries, whines...then ends up totally engrossed in the story line. I love warm Spring evenings and I especially love my 2 rocking chairs that Hayseed bought me shortly after I got out of the hospital (coronary stent) last month...he's a pretty good guy, I think I'll keep him around ;).

2 New Baby Girls...Squeak & Squirt

Squeak and Squirt are 2 day old Golden Comet chicks :) They are so sweet and precious! I picked them up at the farmer's market this morning after having a conversation with a young man (probably all of 10 yrs old) who told me about how much he loved his 4 Golden Comet hens and what good layers they are. He was the most knowledgeable young fella I have met in quite some time. He talked to me about how often they molt and that as long as you give them proper warmth through the winter, that they will still lay almost every day! I pray my kids (even tho the boys are way over 10 already) will be that knowledgeable before too long!
Have a blessed night and a wonderful tomorrow!

**Update**After getting 8 Isa Browns, I "lost" Squeak and Squirt in the mix! All of the red sexlinks kinda looked alike. I am pretty sure Squeak and Squirt are now Snugglefluff and Cinnamon lol. 5/29/12
